The Electronic Request for Tenancy Approval (RFTA) is a digital version of the standard HUD RFTA form. It allows you, your tenant, and the Housing Agency to complete, sign, and approve the RFTA packet entirely online. No printing, scanning, or emailing needed.
The Electronic RFTA is currently only available to participating Delaware Housing Agencies and property owners.
1. Visit the Delaware Housing Access Association website and select the Electronic RFTA option.
2. Sign in or create your AffordableHousing.com account.
3. Complete the RFTA Pre-Form Setup. This includes adding property details, tenant info and email address, and whether the tenant will be asked to sign electronically.
4. Fill out and sign your portion of the RFTA packet.
5. Click Submit to send the RFTA packet to your tenant for review and signature.
If the tenant is signing electronically, they’ll receive an email from BoldSign with a secure link to review and sign the form online.
Yes. You can track progress, see status updates, and make changes anytime from your Documents & Forms page in your AffordableHousing.com account. You’ll also receive email updates when your tenant or the Housing Agency takes action.
Once your tenant signs, the Housing Agency is automatically notified. They’ll review the full packet, request edits if needed, and approve it when complete. You’ll be notified when the RFTA is approved and the status will change to Approved on your Documents & Forms page
If your tenant can’t sign electronically, the Housing Agency will handle the rest of the process manually. They’ll download the RFTA you submitted, collect the tenant’s physical signature, and upload the final version to complete the process. No action is required from you unless the Housing Agency requests edits.
You can make edits only if the Housing Agency requests changes. You’ll be notified by email if that happens, with instructions on how to update and resubmit.
